Writing to a charity

We hope that many pro-life supporters will write to charities not already on the list to ask about policy and practice on pro-life issues.

The key pro-life issues would be:
  • Research using human embryos – relevant to charities concerned with medical conditions which may engage in such research.
  • Reproductive health – relevant to charities involved in overseas aid and development work, or UK charities working with children and young people.
  • Assisted dying – relevant to charities caring for elderly people.
You may find information about a charity on their website, but sometimes this is not obvious. A letter confirming the charity’s stance on one or more issues of pro-life concern is often clearer.

When you write to the charity you may wish to state that you are pro-life, but you are not obliged to do so. You may simply say that you would like to know where the charity stands on whichever of the issues is relevant.

You may indicate to the charity that you are writing to them because you are considering donating to the charity and you would like clarification of certain issues before deciding whether to donate or not.

Please send us a copy of the replies you receive from the charities you write to. You may also want to send us photos of posters or storefronts, screenshots or links from websites or examples of published materials from this charity.

Please send information to charities@spuc.org.uk or by post to SPUC, Unit B, 3 Whitacre Mews, Stannary Street, London SE11 4AB.

Thank you for your support for this important project. Many other people will benefit from the information you gain from your letters.
