William Currie says “thank-you” to supporters after raising £70,000 for SPUC during 9 day fast

William Currie, SPUC Fundraising Officer, has expressed his gratitude to pro-life supporters who contributed towards his 9-day sponsored fast which raised £70,000. Mr Currie said: “To the supporters who sent in prayer booklets, to those that sent messages of support, and to those that have been quietly supporting me, I am very grateful. Here at SPUC, we are fortunate to know that we can rely on you, our loyal supporters, who repeatedly show your motivation for the pro-life cause, whether by your donations, your activism, or your moral support.”

William Currie commenced his fast on July 13th for nine days. Despite never having fasted for such long period of time before, he limited himself to only one meal a day. During this time, he prayed specifically for unborn children, expectant mothers and for an end to DIY abortion in the United Kingdom.

DIY home abortions were introduced by the Government in response to the nationwide lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The DIY regulations allow women to self-administer chemical abortion drugs at home with no medical supervision or support.

Special consideration for those babies perished in recent months

Mr Currie said: “I gave special consideration when praying to the many unborn babies that have perished in recent months in this country as a result of the introduction of home abortion, and to the women who have made the fateful decision to undergo an abortion at home.

“Throughout the 9 days I was providing video updates to supporters on SPUC’s social media pages, which served the benefits of explaining in detail to supporters the three main threats of home abortion, and of keeping my mind away from thoughts of food!

“I took great delight in reading the encouraging messages of supporters in response to these videos, and was comforted by the thought that many of you were praying for the unborn alongside me.”

“SPUC is fortunate to know we can always rely on you, our loyal supporters”

The work of SPUC in defending unborn children and their mothers from the horror of abortion has long been sustained by the dedication of loyal pro-life supporters. This support has become even more vital during the coronavirus pandemic which has greatly impacted all of society.

SPUC’s Mr Currie added: “Unlike the abortion industry, we don't get funding from government or big business. Instead, we rely on generous donations from members of the public, like you, who care about the plight of unborn children and other vulnerable human beings.

“Here at SPUC, we are fortunate to know that we can rely on you, our loyal supporters, who repeatedly show your motivation for the pro-life cause, whether by your donations, your activism, or your moral support.

“Throughout my fast I was conscious of the great number of supporters who were supporting my efforts with their donations. Thank you all very much for your considerable generosity.”

William Currie is aiming to raise £100,000 by the end of August 2020. There is still time to donate to his sponsored fast to support the work of SPUC. If you would like to leave a donation, more information can be seen here.
