Defending life
from conception to natural death

SPUC in Africa

African people are naturally pro-life. They respect the sanctity of human life. Motherhood and family are esteemed and cherished.

International abortion organisations are targeting sub-Saharan Africa. UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund), MSI (Marie Stopes International) and Planned Parenthood are among the powerful groups pressuring countries to legalise abortion and promoting "reproductive health", code words for abortion and contraception.

The illegal abortion rate is high in many African countries. However, the emerging African pro-life movement is putting up a strong resistance against abortion legislation. African pro-lifers are also working hard to halt the spread of corrupt western values among their people.

In recent years SPUC has accepted a number of invitations to speak at conferences organised by the pro-life movement in Africa. As the oldest pro-life organisation in the world, we are able to share our experience of many years with African pro-life activists. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the African pro-life movement as part of the global witness to life.
