American singer, actress and television personality Nicole Scherzinger has spoken up about her "hardcore" pro-life beliefs, reports the Daily Mail.

The X factor judge said that her family is staunchly against abortion, as her mother gave birth to her at the age of 18. She explained her stance, saying "My mum got pregnant with me when she was 17 and had me when she was 18. She chose.

"Her parents were never going to let her have an abortion. So I came out, so I just want to you know encourage everybody to keep your babies."

A voice

Nicole made the comments after revealing that she almost turned down the role of Penny Johnson in a forthcoming remake of Dirty Dancing, because the character has an abortion.

"So I got the role and I almost didn't take it because I didn't want to promote abortion, because my character has an abortion."

But after consultation with her family, 'we decided that maybe I could be a voice, that I could shed some light on the subject without being preachy.'
