SPUC's 50th Anniversary
You can read Alan and Elspeth's this letter here, and its publication marks the 'conception' of SPUC.
This was the start of SPUC, formed, in the words of Alan and Elspeth's letter "to co-ordinate opposition" to the Abortion Act 1967 then going through Parliament. SPUC was the first pro-life organisation to be formed anywhere in the world.
The address from which they were writing was SPUC's first address and, following the Society's conception, it came to birth on 11th January 1967, at a meeting at the Wig and Pen club in central London.
