50th Anniversary Postcard Campaign
Next year (2017) will see the fiftieth anniversary of the passing of the Abortion Act, legislation voted for by British MPs at Westminster in 1967, which so far has resulted in the deaths of millions of unborn children.
SPUC is joining forces with the Union of Catholic Mothers (UCM) to:
- Mark the passing of the 1967 Abortion Act
- Commemorate the lives of its 8.7 million victims
- Send our political leaders a strong pro-life message and urge them to stand up for life in Parliament
Upholding the right to life
Both SPUC and the UCM are fully committed to upholding the right to life of children in the womb, including taking actions to save the lives of children from abortion.
Whilst UCM support comes from the standpoint of Catholic teaching, SPUC's support is derived from the natural law, and a firm conviction that any appeal to human rights must, first and foremost, rest upon the right to life. This is the foundational human right upon which all others depend.
We are proud to be working with the Union of Catholic Mothers, which is an organisation firmly rooted in respect for the value and dignity of human life.
Please act to end abortion now - join our postcard campaign
In order to build momentum and make maximum impact, we are starting our campaign now, in Autumn 2016. Together we are running a Postcard Campaign challenging MPs to take a Pro-Life Pledge.
This pledge calls on MPs to "recognise the humanity of unborn children from the time of conception, and to work to reinstate legal protection for all".
Nearly 50 years ago, MPs voted in the Abortion Act. Today, it is our MPs who will bring about the changes we need to protect unborn children. Please help us to make this a landmark campaign for unborn babies.
