Stanley Johnson, a former politician and the father of Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, has called for the UK to adopt population control.

Writing for the Conservative Home blog, Mr Johnson said: "What tools are available, for example in terms of social incentives or disincentives, to reduce this country’s population growth and to bring it back to more manageable levels?"

He also called for "overseas aid programmes [to] deliver effective assistance to population and family planning programmes in the recipient countries". [Conservative Home, 9 September]
