“Profoundly sick”: Pro-abortion militants say they “find joy” in attacking pro-lifers

A pro-abortion militant group, Jane’s Revenge, has declared “open season” on pro-life pregnancy centres in the United States. In a threatening letter, the group said pro-lifers could expect “increasing drastic measures” to be taken against them, and that Jane’s Revenge would “find joy” in violence. SPUC has slammed the group as “dangerous” and “profoundly sick”.

Following an initial draft majority opinion leaked earlier this year, reported by SPUC, revealing that Roe vs Wade might be repealed, pro-abortion violence has become a daily occurrence in the US.

Jane’s Revenge – named in reference to Roe vs Wade, which legalised abortion in the US in 1973 – has claimed responsibility for a campaign of arson and vandalism waged against pro-life pregnancy centres.

One such attack took place in Buffalo, New York, where a pro-life office was set on fire and daubed with the slogan, “Jane Was Here”.

Now, Jane’s Revenge has declared that pro-lifers can expect more “drastic measures” not “so easily cleaned up as fire and graffiti”.

“Through attacking, we find joy”

Referencing a 30-day ultimatum ordering pregnancy centres to close, Jane’s Revenge stated: “We offered an honourable way out… You could have walked away. Now the leash is off. And we will make it as hard as possible for your campaign of oppression to continue.”

“From here forward”, the letter continued, “any anti-choice group who closes their doors, and stops operating will no longer be a target. But until you do, it’s open season, and we know where your operations are.”

Jane’s Revenge’s letter also encouraged pro-abortion activists “with the urge to paint, to burn, to cut, to jam” to attack pro-life pregnancy centres.

“Through attacking, we find joy, courage, and strip the veneer of impenetrability held by these violent institutions”, it added.

Meanwhile, US senators have sent a letter to the nation’s Attorney General to ask how the Department of Justice will protect pro-lifers from “this disturbing trend of harassment, intimidation, and violence against religious and other pro-life organizations and individuals”.

Earlier this month, a pro-abortion militant was charged with the attempted murder of a reportedly pro-life Supreme Court Justice, Brett Kavanaugh.

“Morally backward” and “dangerous”

SPUC’s Michael Robinson, Executive Director (Public Affairs and Legal Services), said: “Jane’s Revenge is the point of the pro-abortion militant spear, which, it admits itself, delights in violence against pro-lifers.

“Only a profoundly sick and morally backward ideology could, without any hint of shame or self-reflection, label pregnancy centres ‘violent institutions’, and then, at the same time, call for violence against pro-lifers and ‘find joy’ in such wanton brutality.

“But this is what the ideology of abortion, a violent act, does to society. While Jane’s Revenge is, in a sense, pitiful, it is nevertheless a dangerous group that must be held to account for its crimes. Pro-lifers and the unborn must be protected.

“SPUC hopes that Jane’s Revenge and pro-abortion acts of violence will be given due attention and justly condemned, at home and abroad, including in the UK. Violence must not win.”
