Former Planned Parenthood clinic director describes “barbaric reality” of abortion – “Nothing prepared me for what I saw…”

Abby Johnson, 40, former Planned Parenthood clinic director turned pro-life activist, described the “barbaric reality” of abortion in a speech at the 2020 Republican National Convention (RNC) last night.

Shortly before her address at the RNC, Johnson tweeted that “Pro-aborts are SO scared of my speech tonight that will pull back the curtain of the barbaric reality of abortion”.

“For most people who consider themselves pro-life, abortion is abstract”, Johnson said during her RNC address. “They can’t conceive of the barbarity.”

Johnson described one occasion when, assisting with an ultrasound-guided abortion at a Planned Parenthood clinic, the “barbarity” of abortion was made clear to her: “Nothing prepared me for what I saw on the screen: an unborn baby fighting back, desperate to move away from the suction… The last thing I saw was a spine twirling around in the mother’s womb before succumbing to the force of the suction.”

“And I’ll never forget what the doctor said next: ‘beam me up, Scotty.’”

“You see, for me abortion is real”, said Johnson. “I know what abortion sounds like, I know what abortion smells like. Did you know abortion has a smell?”

Johnson also recalled the “‘the products of conception room’ in abortion clinics, where infant corpses were pieced back together to ensure nothing remains in the mother’s womb”. Planned Parenthood staff jokingly referred to it as the “pieces of children room”.

Abby Johnson: “I truly believed I was helping women”

Johnson, whose story was made into the 2019 film Unplanned, quit working as a Planned Parenthood clinic director in 2009.

As she related during her speech, “I truly believed I was helping women”. However, Planned Parenthood’s abortion quotas, which led to Johnson being ordered to double the amount of abortions at her clinic, shook that belief. “Abortion is how we make our money”, she was told after winning an “employee of the month” award named after Planned Parenthood’s racist founder, Margaret Sanger.

And Johnson’s remarks follow a similar story, covered recently by SPUC, when former clinic manager Ramona Treviño denounced Planned Parenthood’s “contraceptive mentality”, saying that it “creates a market for abortion by promoting promiscuity”, specifically among the young.

After leaving Planned Parenthood, Johnson founded the non-profit organisation And Then There Were None (ATTWN), which helps abortion workers move into other industries.

U. S. Election

The RNC is a key event in the leadup to the 2020 U.S. election this November, allowing Republicans and supporters of President Trump a stage to speak to the nation.

Despite opposing President Trump when she attended the 2017 Women’s March, Johnson used the occasion to voice her newfound support for the president, citing his restoration of the Mexico City Policy, for example, which withholds aid to international organisations that fund abortion.

“He has done more for the unborn than any other president”, Johnson said.
