2012: Sporty mum running for the unborn

UPDATE: JOB DONE!

"Well I have finally ticked off 1 very important item from my bucket list, the brilliant London Virgin Marathon. It has always been a dream of mine to participate in this event and I completed this challenge with a time of 4 hours 51 minutes and those all important 37 seconds.

I have to be honest; as a seasoned runner I did find the 26.2 miles a lot harder than I had imagined, I managed quite easily the first 30km and then the last 12km was a real slog, so much so that I had to pray a Hail Mary and ask our Lady to get me through ( she came through for me ). I was very proud to be running with the SPUC logo, title and web address attached to my back for all to see and it got the attention of two other runners who told me what a fantastic cause I was running for, it was a very humbling experience and it gave me such an adrenalin rush it spurred me on for the next few miles to come.

There was great camaraderie from all the other runners and some of us were treated to couple of guys in leopard print mankini's, Rhinos and those running for the 'Wooden Spoon Society', the crowds gathered were equally fantastic; they were all shouting for us to keep going. There were bands playing music and some members of the public were giving away bags of sweets. It was a highly emotional experience and I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You to all of you who have supported SPUC and me in this challenge, I am so overwhelmed by the support that has been given to me and it is YOU guys who really got me through. I already have my eyes on next year's Marathon so I will again attempt to  get in via the ballot but in the meantime training begins for my next challenge which takes place in November and is an epic 84 miles in 3 days. I will again do this or at least attempt this in aid of our lost Children and our Mothers suffering because of  abortion. SPUC really is a worthy cause and I am so delighted to be following my dreams in aid of this wonderful organisation. Thank you everyone and wish me luck for my next challenge.

Many thanks and well done to Veronica, from all the SPUC staff!
