A US embryo adoption company plans to introduce the service in the UK
this year, The Evening Standard reports. Snowflakes was created to
rescue IVF embryos that would otherwise be discarded and has been
responsible for the birth of 32 children in the US to date. It carries
out procedures familiar to the traditional adoption process, including
screening both sets of parents and allowing donor parents to veto
adoptive parents they consider unsuitable. [

A euthanasia campaigner convicted of second-degree murder in 1999
after killing a man with Lou Gehrig's disease during a television show
has lost his appeal for early release. Jack Kevorkian, 75, is not
eligible for parole until 2007 though his attorney intends to appeal
the decision. Kevorkian claims to have assisted the deaths of over 130
people. [

The US House of Representatives has approved a ban on partial birth
abortion, Reuters reports. The bill now has to pass through the Senate
before being presented to President Bush for signing and could become
the first bill to ban a form of abortion since Roe v. Wade. [
