SPUC welcomes clergy letter on Mental Capacity Bill
Westminster, 31 August 2004 - The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) has welcomed
the publication in today's Times newspaper of a letter from more than
750 Roman Catholic clergy which expresses concern at the government's
Mental Capacity Bill.
John Smeaton, SPUC's national director, said: "This is a significant
witness on the part of the Catholic clergy in the United Kingdom to
the dangers of the Mental Capacity Bill and the importance of MPs
making a stand by voting against it at second reading."
