About the Safe at School campaign
Safe at School is a campaign to educate everyone about damaging sex and relationships education in both primary and secondary schools. It is aimed particularly at parents, who are in a unique position to find out what is happening in sex and relationships classes in their own child's school. We are supporting those parents who take further action within their child's school.
Why SPUC is taking a stand against anti-life sex education
SPUC is taking a stand against damaging sex education, not only because it violates the innocence of young children, but also because it is fuelling the tragedy of teenage abortions. As an organisation dedicated to saving the lives of unborn children, we cannot ignore the influence of explicit sex education on teenagers - for many young people this dates back to their primary school years.
In 1999 Tony Blair announced the target of halving the rate of teenage pregnancies within 10 years. The number of girls under 16 having abortions has hardly changed since then. Government policy is to have more and more sex education at ever younger ages. But the figures show this policy is a failure.
