Peter Smith writes: From 19 to 26 February 2009, I travelled to Lagos, Nigeria, on a fact finding mission. This was organised by Mrs Harriet Ogbobine who works with the Doctors Health Initiative (DHI) in Lagos. The following photos show some aspects of this trip. It is hoped that SPUC and other pro-life groups from around the world can assist the Nigerians to keep their country pro-life, in law and in practice.
Left to right: Peter Smith, Mrs Harriet Ogbobine and her father Sir (chief) Tony Asije. Harriet is the counselling co-ordinator for DHI and has been trained by the Good Counsel Network in London. Her father is a retired police commissioner who greatly assisted with my visit.

On the Sunday I got to speak in a church in the suburbs of Lagos. I was introduced to this pastor by a colleague of mine at the UN. Left to right: a deacon, Pastor Ayo Fasoro, Mrs Fasoro, Peter Smith, Harriet, a visiting preacher.
We were very privileged to meet the Cardinal Archbishop of Lagos. Gaining an appointment was very difficult and we were blessed by the cardinal giving us 30 minutes of his valuable time. Left to right: Harriet, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, Vivian, Peter Smith.
Harriet decided that I should meet Mrs George, one of the patrons of DHI. She is the founder of Little Saints Orphanages, and I would strongly commend her work. In the UK call 07970 451986. Left to right: Peter Smith with orphan, Harriet, Rev Mrs Dele George.
I was asked to speak to the orphans at one of Mrs George's orphanages just up the street from where Harriet lives. I must admit that I was not so keen on doing this, but I agreed to go the next night. Firstly I shared my testimony with all the girls. Then I felt led by the Lord to speak to the high school girls at 8 pm when the little ones were in bed. After returning and giving a pro-life/chastity talk to these girls I felt led to close in prayer. These young ladies had been very quiet when I spoke to them. When I began to pray I felt lifted up the heaven, as all these amazing young women all seemed to be on very good speaking terms with the Lord Jesus Christ. This was the most uplifting meeting for the entire week that I was in Nigeria.
Harriet's father had arranged for me to meet an oba (ruler or king), so we travelled about 60 miles out of Lagos to Abowa . There we met his royal highness. Left to right: the wife of the oba, His Royal Highness Alayeluwa Oba J Akinlolu Balaji Odumeru, Peter Smith, Harriet.
His royal highness had given all the ladies a day off work as well as the children a day off school, and the medical staff of the local health clinic. Here are the good ladies of Abowa who came to the meeting.
